2019 governorship: The Oba of Rilwan Akiolu sends warning to politicians in Lagos
The Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is performing well.
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has asked those nursing the ambition to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state to jettison the idea.
Oba Akiolu made the statement on Thursday, March 23, at the 21st convocation ceremony of LASU held at the university’s auditorium complex.
He said the present governor in the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, was performing well and should be given second term of four years in office, Leadership reports.
Akiolu said: "And that was why about nine months to the 2015 governorship election, I told residents of Lagos that Ambode will be the next governor of the state either they vote or not but that all doubt me.
"Few days ago, one of the aspirants greeted me and alleged that I halted his ambition. No one should come out in 2019 and declare his ambition.
"The only way to avoid not wasting their money is to support Ambode and his deputy to rule Lagos for the next six years.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode revealed plans by his administration to build a 6000-bed hostel within the campus of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo in partnership with the private sector to improve on the learning experience in the institution.
Meanwhile, Naij.com reports that the commissioner of police in Lagos state, Mr Fatai Owoseni, on Thursday said there was no bomb planted at the American Embassy in Lagos.
Owoseni told newsmen that the suspected bag kept in one of the vehicles at the Consular General Office, Victoria Island, only contained medical equipment.
An aggrieved woman says that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is not likely to return as the state governor in 2019.

He said the anti-bomb team professionally removed the bag from the vehicle. After scanning the bag, they discovered that all items inside were medical tools.
