Reading The Qur'aan And The Place Of Prostration

Praise be to Allaah.​

It is mustahabb for the Muslim to read Qur’aan a great deal during Ramadhaan and to strive to complete it, but that is not obligatory, i.e., if he does not complete the Qur’aan he is not sinning, but he has missed out on a great deal of reward. The evidence for that is the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (4614) from Aboo Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: Jibreel used to review the Qur’aan with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) once every year, and he reviewed it with him twice in the year in which he passed away.

Also, we admonish everyone to be closed to the Qur'aan for Allaah's people are the people of the Qur'aan as seen in the prophetic narration below;

Ibn Maajah (215) and Ahmad (11870) narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily Allaah has His own people among mankind.”​ They said: O Messenger of Allaah, who are they? He said: “They are the people of the Qur’an, Allaah’s own people and those who are closest to Him.”​ Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in
Saheeh Ibn Maajah.

Al-Hakeem at-Tirmidhi said: This only applies to the reciter whose heart is free from ailments and his behaviour is free of misconduct. No one could be one of Allaah’s own people except one who is cleansed of sin both outwardly and inwardly, and does acts of obedience to Allaah. Then he will be one of Allaah’s own people.
End quote from Fayd al-Qadeer (3/87).

It is not sufficient for a person just to recite Qur’an in order to be one of the people of the Qur’an, unless he also acts in accordance with it, adheres to its limits and follows its teachings.

Now, in the Qur'aan, there are places where Its reader is expected and encouraged to prostrate. Like chapter 13verse14; the place has been underlined ________​. Its called sujood al-tilaawah.

It is of two ways;

On Salaah and Not On Salaah​

1 *Not On Salaah*: It is not essential to have wudoo’ for sujood al-tilaawah, according to the more correct of the two scholarly opinions, and there is no salaam or takbeer when coming up from it, according to the more correct of the two scholarly opinions.

It is prescribed to say takbeer when prostrating, because evidence to that effect is proven in the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him).

2 ​On Salaah​: It is obligatory to say takbeer when going down and when coming up, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to do that in every movement of the prayer, and he said: “Pray as you have seen me praying.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh , 595).

What to say in the prostration​:

 "Allaahumma laka sajadtu wa bika aamantu wa laka aslamtu, sajada wajhi lilladhi khalaqahu wa sawwarahu wa shaqqa sam’ahu wa basarahu bi hawlihi wa quwwatihi, tabaarak Allaahu ahsan al-khaaliqeen"​

It was said to him, "O Messenger of ALLAAH (ﷺ), why did you do that?"

He said, "Jibreel (ALAHYI SALLAM) said to me, ‘If #Ramadaan comes and a person is not forgiven, he will enter Hell and ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) will cast him far away. Say Aameen.’ So I said Aameen.

Then he said, ‘O Muhammad, if both or one of a person’s parents are alive and he does not honour them and he dies, he will enter Hell and ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) will cast him far away. Say Aameen.’ So I said Aameen.

Then he said, ‘If you are mentioned in a person’s presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, he will enter Hell and ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) will cast him far away. Say Aameen.’ So I said Aameen.”

Let's Remind ourselves about the real nature of fasting, and that it is not just giving up food and drink, but it is a means of attaining taqwa (piety), and that it is an opportunity for sins to be forgiven and expiated.

STORY — Suspicion

Hasan Basri once noticed a slave with a woman near the banks of the River Tigris. In his hand, the slave held a bottle from which he was drinking. The saint thought to himself, “I regard myself as a sinner, but I am superior to this slave.”
As he looked on, a boat with seven men on board began to sink in the river. The slave instantly jumped into the water and saved six of them. He then turned to the saint and remarked, “I have saved six of the seven. Since you regard yourself as superior to me, I request that you save the remaining person on the boat.”
He then explained, “I was trying to test you to see if you were blind or observant. The woman by my side is my mother and the bottle in my hand contains nothing but water.”
Hasan Basri realised his error and immediately begged the man for forgiveness. He also requested, “Just as you saved six men from drowning, save me from drowning in the sea of blindness.” From then onwards, Hasan Basri never regarded anybody with contempt.

WHY WE SHOULD STRIVE TO OFFER OUR 5X DAILY PRAYERS. {Part 2}

The parable of the prayer is that of a running river in which we cleanse our hearts five times a day.

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ كَمَثَلِ نَهْرٍ جَارٍ غَمْرٍ عَلَى بَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ
The example of the five prayers is that of a river running at the door of one of you in which he cleanses himself five times a day.

When we are preparing for prayer, we should keep this image in mind so that our awareness is focused on the goal of attaining a pure heart. Related to this inward purification is the purification from sin, as prayer is among the greatest good deeds for which we expiate our sins.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: A man kissed a woman who was not his wife and he came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and told him about that. The verse was revealed:
أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيْ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنْ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ
Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Verily, good deeds will do away with bad deeds. (11:114)

This expiation is another way to view the prayer as a river, since it cleanses us from the sins we commit.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَنَّ نَهَرًا بِبَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ، يَغْتَسِلُ فِيهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسًا مَا تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ يُبْقِي مِنْ دَرَنِهِ‏
If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?
They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet said:
فَذَلِكَ مِثْلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِهَا الْخَطَايَا
That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah erases evil deeds. Source: Sahih Bukahri 505, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. Allahu Akbar.

May Allah aid us through our efforts to offer our daily salaat on time and with sunnah ones too.

The death of a loved one is often traumatic and could adversely affect a person. But our society makes it sound that the nature favours a widower above the widow.

A man who lost his wife tends to quickly get over it but women who their husband dies are much more affected when such things happen, problems of insomnia, high blood pressure, sense of neglect, sense of lost, fear of the unknown set in all at once in a terrible shock.
.
Widowers can re-marry early enough after the demise of their wives but if a widow should try to get married so early, people would start to see her as a lady that lacks chastity while others begin to suspect her if she's had a hand in the death of her husband
.
A widower can decide to get married at any time he believes he is ready for it, even at any age. Incase of a 70 year old widower the children would feel concerned and most time arrange for a young woman for their father because they believe that their father should not remain alone, But reverse is the case of a widow even if she's just 30 years old, if care is not taken she may remain single for ever.

Many people are of the opinion that when the husband dies, the sexual emotion of the wife should die with her husband. She should never venture or dream of any serial act with anybody. She should see her children as her children.
.
Why should we be deceiving ourselves, the position of a child remains constant, i.e. Child-mother relationship, why should a child turn to be the husband? The role of the husband is quite different and vital. Husband is the husband, he has sexual and other roles to play which is forbidden of a son to play in all ramifications.
.
In case of a widower, people won't preach to him to take his daughter to be his wife, rather they quickly organize and get a damsel for him.
.
Apart from sexual needs, every human needs someone to discuss with, to share views and feeling with, because problems shared is half or almost solved. The widow still needs someone to partner with her in life and look after her children. Many children that involve in crime because they lack parental care, some as a result of the death of their father and there's no one to look after them or caution them when they misbehaves.
.
Widows should be look up to, and we should help them. Men intending to take other wives should marry the widows (am not saying it is compulsory upon them). And wives should allow their husbands to marry the widow, they should not be over possessive, God owns every soul. They shouldn't disgrace or blackmail the widow their husband is intending to marry. They should feel for them and put themselves in their shoes.

Abdullah ibn Masud at his death bed

Abdullah ibn Masud lived to the time of Khalifah Uthman, may God be pleased with him. When he was sick and on his death-bed, Uthman came to visit him and said:

"What is your ailment?"

"My sins."

"And what do you desire?"

"The mercy of my Lord."

"Shall I not give you your stipend which you have refused to take for years now?"

"I have no need of it."

"Let it be for your daughters after you."

"Do you fear poverty for my children? I have commanded them to read Surah al-Waqiah every night for I have heard the Prophet saying, "Whoever reads Al-Waqiah every night shall not be afflicted by poverty ever."

That night, Abdullah passed away to the company of his Lord, his tongue moist with the remembrance of God and with the recitation of the verses of His Book.

Abdullah ibn Masud bleeds to recite the Quran

The companions of the Prophet were together one day in Makkah. They were still few in number. weak and oppressed. They said, "The Quraysh have not yet heard the Quran being recited openly and loudly. Who is the man who could recite it for them?'

"I shall recite it from them," volunteered Abdullah ibn Masud . "We are afraid for you," they said. "We only want someone who has a clan who would protect him from their evil . "

"Let me," Abdullah ibn Masud insisted, "Allah shall protect me and keep me away from their evil." He then went out to the mosque until he reached Maqam Ibrahim (a few meters from the Kabah). It was dawn and the Quraysh were sitting around the Kabah. Abdullah stopped at the Maqam and began to recite:

"Bismillah irRahma nirRahim. Ar-Rahman. Allama-l Quran. Khalaqal insan. Allamahul bayan... (In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful. The Merciful God. He has taught the Quran. He has created man and taught him the clear truth...)"

He went on reciting. The Quraysh looked at him intently and some of them asked: "What is Ibn Umm Abd saying?" "Damn him! He is reciting some of what Muhammad brought!" they realized. They went up to him and began beating his face as he continued reciting. When he went back to his companions the blood was flowing from his face. "This is what we feared for you," they said. "By God," replied Abdullah, "the enemies of God are not more comfortable than I at this moment. If you wish. I shall go out tomorrow and do the same."

The words reflect one's inner self

Mahmud was a very pious man, but he was not very attractive looking. One day, he was walking along the road, minding his own business, when a lady came up to him, and started calling him names and abusing him. This lady kept saying all kinds of nasty things, and Mahmud just listened to her patiently. Finally, when she was finished calling him names and abusing him, Mahmud just greeted her, smiled, and said

"and a nice day to you," and continued on his way.

Why did Mahmud, the pious man, behave this way?

It is because he knew that everything she said was just a reflection of her own inner self.

If you use bad language, you are just making obvious to everybody how far away you really are from Allah, since your words are in reality a reflection of your own inner self.

The man who made a promise to tell the truth

Telling the truth is a very good habit. If you always speak the truth, you can save yourself from a lot of trouble! Here is a story of a man who did a lot of bad things, but his promise to tell the truth saved him.

Once a man came to the prophet Muhammad (S) and said, "Oh prophet of Allah, I have many bad habits. Which one of them should I give up first?" The prophet said, "Give up telling lies first and always speak the truth." The man promised to do so and went home.

At night the man was about to go out to steal. Before setting out, he thought for a moment about the promise he made with the prophet. "If tomorrow the prophet asks me where have I been, what shall I say? Shall I say that I went out stealing? No, I cannot say that. But nor can I lie. If I tell the truth, everyone will start hating me and call me a thief. I would be punished for stealing."

So the man decided not to steal that night, and gave up this bad habit.

Next day, he felt like drinking wine, when he was about to do so, he said to himself, "What shall I say to the prophet if he asks me what did I do during the day? I cannot tell a lie, and if I speak the truth people will hate me, because a Muslim is not allowed to drink wine." And so he gave up the idea of drinking wine.

In this way, whenever the man thought of doing something bad, he remembered his promise to tell the truth at all times. One by one, he gave up all his bad habits and became a good Muslim and a very good person.

If you always speak the truth, you can be a good person, a good Muslim whom Allah likes and favors. If Allah - our Creator - is pleased with us, He will reward us with HEAVEN, which is a place of happiness and joy.

1.you believe in the existence of Allah Ta’ala, but you dont fulfill His commands

4.You enjoy the benefits from Allah Ta’ala, but you are not grateful to him

5.You acknowledge Shaytan as your enemy but you do not go against HIm

6.You want to enter paradise but you dont work for it

7.You dont want to be thrown into hell-fire, but you do not try to get away(i.e. do good deeds)

8.You believe that every living-thing will face death, but you do not prepare for it

9.You gossip and find faults in others, but you forget your own faults and mistakes

10.You bury the dead, but you don not take a lesson from it

From the Glorious Quran:

O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak).

Nor be like those who say, “We hear,” but listen not:

For the worst of beasts in the sight of Allah are the deaf and the dumb,- those who understand not.

If Allah had found in them any good. He would indeed have made them listen: (As it is), if He had made them listen, they would but have turned back and declined (Faith).

O ye who believe! give your response to Allah and His Messenger, when He calleth you to that which will give you life; and know that Allah cometh in between a man and his heart, and that it is He to Whom ye shall (all) be gathered.

[Al-Anfal, verses 20-24]

The people of innovations in Islam is like the Scorpion

The saying of Imaam al-Barbaharee رحمه الله about the Ahlul-Bidah (innovation):

 ((مثل أصحاب البدع مثل العقارب يدفنون رؤوسهم وأبدانهم في التراب، ويخرجون أذنابهم، فإذا تمكنوا لدغوا، وكذلك أهل البدع، هم مختفون بين الناس، فإذا تمكنوا بلغوا ما يريدون. ))

“The example of the people of innovations is like the scorpion. They bury their bodies and heads in the sands, but their (venomous) tails are exposed, so that when they are able they will sting. Likewise are the people of innovation, they are concealed amongst the people, then when they are able, they will deliver (from their bid’ah) what they can.”

Shaykh al-Allaamah Saalih bin Fawzaan al-Fawzaan حفظه الله was asked regarding this statement:

السؤال: يقول السائل ما معنى قول بعض السلف: ” أهل البدع كالعقارب، تدفن رأسها وتبقي أذنابها حتى إذا تمكنت لدغت ؟

Question: The questioner says: What is the meaning of the statement from some of the Salaf: The innovators are like the scorpion, he buries his head while leaving his tail out, such that when he is able to, he stings?

The Shaykh حفظه الله replied:

نعم كلام واضح ، أن أهل البدع فيهم نفاق ، أهل البدع يبتلون بالنفاق وهو أنهم يظهرون الخير ويبطنون الشر، يظهرون الخير للناس خديعة { يخادعون الله والذين آمنوا } ، ويبطنون الشر ومتى ما تمكنوا من نشر الشر نشروه مثل العقرب نعم.

Yes. This speech is clear. The people of innovation have with them hypocrisy. The people of innovation have been afflicted with hypocrisy. And it is that they display good while they hide evil, they display good to the people as a way of deception.

And they conceal the evil. And when they have the ability to spread evil, they spread it, just like the scorpion.
