Thought For The Day...✍

You should structure your time, arrange your regular devotions, and assign each function a set period of time during which it is given first priority but which it does not overstep. For if you abandon yourself to neglect and purposelessness, as the cattle do, and just do anything that may occur to you at any time it happens to occur to you, most of your time will be wasted. Your time is your life, and your life is your capital; it is the basis of your transactions [with ALLAAH], and the means to attain to everlasting felicity, in the proximity of ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA). Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, and when it passes away it never returns.

STORY — Suspicion

Hasan Basri once noticed a slave with a woman near the banks of the River Tigris. In his hand, the slave held a bottle from which he was drinking. The saint thought to himself, “I regard myself as a sinner, but I am superior to this slave.”
As he looked on, a boat with seven men on board began to sink in the river. The slave instantly jumped into the water and saved six of them. He then turned to the saint and remarked, “I have saved six of the seven. Since you regard yourself as superior to me, I request that you save the remaining person on the boat.”
He then explained, “I was trying to test you to see if you were blind or observant. The woman by my side is my mother and the bottle in my hand contains nothing but water.”
Hasan Basri realised his error and immediately begged the man for forgiveness. He also requested, “Just as you saved six men from drowning, save me from drowning in the sea of blindness.” From then onwards, Hasan Basri never regarded anybody with contempt.

WHY WE SHOULD STRIVE TO OFFER OUR 5X DAILY PRAYERS. {Part 2}

BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

The parable of the prayer is that of a running river in which we cleanse our hearts five times a day.

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ كَمَثَلِ نَهْرٍ جَارٍ غَمْرٍ عَلَى بَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ
The example of the five prayers is that of a river running at the door of one of you in which he cleanses himself five times a day.
Source: Sahih Muslim 668, Grade: Sahih

When we are preparing for prayer, we should keep this image in mind so that our awareness is focused on the goal of attaining a pure heart. Related to this inward purification is the purification from sin, as prayer is among the greatest good deeds for which we expiate our sins.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: A man kissed a woman who was not his wife and he came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and told him about that. The verse was revealed:
أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيْ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنْ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ
Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Verily, good deeds will do away with bad deeds. (11:114)
Source: Sahih Bukhari 4410, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

This expiation is another way to view the prayer as a river, since it cleanses us from the sins we commit.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَنَّ نَهَرًا بِبَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ، يَغْتَسِلُ فِيهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسًا مَا تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ يُبْقِي مِنْ دَرَنِهِ‏
If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?
They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet said:
فَذَلِكَ مِثْلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِهَا الْخَطَايَا
That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah erases evil deeds. Source: Sahih Bukahri 505, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. Allahu Akbar.

May Allah aid us through our efforts to offer our daily salaat on time and with sunnah ones too.
Aameen.

WHY WE SHOULD STRIVE TO OFFER OUR 5X DAILY PRAYERS. { Part 1}

BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

Prayer (salat) is the most important practice in Islam after declaring faith in Allah and His Messenger. The Prophet described the prayer as a light, the pillar of Islam, and among the best deeds.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud may Allah be pleased with him reported: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى مِيقَاتِهَا
Prayer in its proper time.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 2630, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

But this is for the true and sincere prayer that completes its purpose and objectives, both inwardly and outwardly, not simply going through the motions without presence of heart. In order for the prayer to be fulfilled, we must allow it to purify our hearts, to keep us away from sin, and to enrich our lives in the remembrance of Allah.

Purification of the heart is the ultimate religious objective of prayer. A prayer will only be acceptable to Allah if it is done with sincerity, reverence, awareness, and repentance. Our prayers should cleanse the heart of every spiritual disease such as envy, malice, zina, gambling, arrogance etc.

Allah says:
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ
He has succeeded who purifies himself, who remembers the name of his Lord and prays. Surat Al-A’la 87:14-15. Allahu Akbar WALHAMDULILLAH.

May Allah aid us to purify our hearts towards our salaat.
Aameen.

WAHABI !!!??

Sorry, the post maybe too long.

Atimes, one will be forced to conclude that some folks, although they are non-muslims, have senses more than our own brothers in Islam. Perhaps, their ignorance is a zoonotic disease contracted from a certain species that have gone into extinction (see IUCN RED LIST,lol)
When a so called "moderate Muslim" labels you a "Wahabi", the best thing to do is to draw out your tongue (Ntooor!), trust me, his frustration will increase by 30% because he labelled you out of frustration already. Who or what is  Wahabi? According to them, Wahabi is a Muslim who follows the anti-polytheism teachings of Shaykh-l-Islam Muhammad Ibn AbdilWahab An-Najdi (may Allaah reward him with Jannah). As contained in Q 16 Vs 36, the basic assignment of every messenger is to call his people to monotheism (anti-polytheism), why then do you have issues with the Dawah of the noble Shaykh?

" And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc.i. e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)..." (Nahl Vs 36).

Tagging people as Wahabi is not really an issue, the main issue arrises when they start to compare your doctrine with the doctrine of people like Bin Laden and Abubakar Shekau. Well, I can only blame frustration and ignorance. Every upright scholar (of Islam) in this era has dissociated themselves from the teachings of Bin Laden. They all have  tried so hard to differentiate between the Dawah of Bin Laden and the Dawah of Ibn AbdilWahab.

The former grand mufti of Saudi, Shaykh AbdulAziz Ibn Bazz said " My advice to Al-Massari, Faqih, Bin Laden, and anyone following their way is to give up this destructive path they’ve taken, to fear Allāh and fear His retribution and anger. They must return to guidance and repent to Allāh for what they’ve done. Allāh has promised the repentant to accept their repentance, saying:

" ...And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.." [Q 5:2].

"Say: Oh my servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Certainly, Allāh forgives all sins. Indeed, it is he who is the forgiving, the merciful. And return back to your Lord and submit to him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped " [Q39:53-54].

" And turn to Allāh in repentance, all of you, oh believers, that you might succeed. [Q24:31]

[ “Al-Buḥūth al-Islāmiyyah” magazine, (No. 50, pgs. 7-17), “al-Muslimūn” and “al-Sharq al-Awsaṭ” newspapers (in the Arabic month of Jamādá al-Ūwlá in 1417 Hijrah – which corresponds to 1996 C.E.]

To the moderate Muslims who sees anyone calling to the anti-polytheism  Dawah of Muhammad Ibn AbdilWahab as a terrorist and trying to link the Dawah  of the Shaykh to the Dawah of Ben Laden (and Shekau), Natana J. Delong -  Bas, a female and a non-muslim has this to say to you :

"Across time and space, the Wahhabis have been depicted as violent fanatics, wreaking havoc, death, and destruction against anyone whom they considered to be unbelievers or associationists.
This depiction clearly has no basis in the written works of Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Although he taught that monotheism should always be upheld and associationism must be eradicated, violence and killing were not the prescribed methods for achieving these goals.
He always emphasized education and discussion as the appropriate means for calling people to monotheism. Rather than calling for violence and destruction, his writings on jihad were permeated with an emphasis on the importance of the preservation of life, human, plant, and animal, and property, both human and material.
Ibn Abd al-Wahhab's careful, and detailed discussion of jihad -- how it is defined, who is to carry it out, and under what circumstances and the regulations applying to it both during and afterward -- demonstrates a concern for placing limitations of violence and destruction rather than calling for indiscriminate militance against nonadherents to his teachings. His focus on the preservation of life -- human, plant, and animal -- as well as property reflects his concern for respect of others and the desire to pursue peaceful means of conversion and the establishment of cooperative relationships with others. In keeping with this vision, Ibn Abd al-Wahhab sought to limit violence, particularly applications of the death penalty, because he believed that this was counterproductive and likely only to produce fear, not faith.
Ibn Abd al-Wahhab's overwhelming concern was the winning of adherents through faith of the heart -- a goal that he believed could best be achieved through dialogue rather that destruction. According to this vision, jihad has no place as an offensive activity. It is a method of last resort in defending the Muslim community from aggression so that the work of proselytization can continue.

[Wahabi Islam : from revival and reform to global jihad]

Another problem is our one and only Muhadith of West Africa who resides in Ilorin(Lol). That is a topic for another day  In Shaa Allaah.

STORY — Humility

One day, Imam Bukhari was in the process of constructing a building close to Bukhara. Many people came to assist the Imam with the construction. But, the Imam continued carrying the bricks with his own hands.

Somebody appealed to him, “There is no need for you to carry the bricks. We will do it.”

Imam Bukhari responded, “I am doing this for my own benefit.”

Islam stresses the importance of the institution of marriage and the desirability of having children and taking good care of all members of the family. Healthy societies are built on healthy families. Remaining single, having relationships outside of marriage, or neglecting one’s family, are looked down upon and contrary to the teachings of Islam.

Whoever desires to gain Allah’s Pleasure and win his/her everlasting abode in Paradise needs to take care of the responsibilities that Allah (ﷻ) wants us to shoulder on earth and which (anyway) satisfy the demands of human nature. Marriage should be looked forward to as a way to earn good deeds and the most responsible and fitting way in which to satisfy the cravings of human nature.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Get married, reproduce, and let your number increase.” [Sunan Ibn Majah]

Ways of offering Witr, Tahajjud, Qiyaam al-layl prayer

**

Praise be to Allaah.
Witr prayer is one of the greatest acts of worship that draw one closer to Allaah. Some of the scholars – the Hanafis – even thought that it is one of the obligatory prayers, but the correct view is that it is one of the confirmed Sunnahs (Sunnah mu’akkadah) which the Muslim should observe regularly and not neglect.
Imam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Whoever neglects Witr is a bad man whose testimony should not be accepted. This indicates that Witr prayer is something that is confirmed.
We may sum up the manner of offering Witr prayer as follows:
Its timing:
It starts when a person has prayed ‘Isha’, even if it is joined to Maghrib at the time of Maghrib, and lasts until dawn begins, because
*the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has prescribed for you a prayer (by which He may increase your reward), which is Witr; Allaah has enjoined it for you during the time between ‘Isha’ prayer until dawn begins.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 425; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi .*

Is it better to offer this prayer at the beginning of its time or to delay it?
The Sunnah indicates that if a person thinks he will be able to get up at the end of the night, it is better to delay it, because prayer at the end of the night is better and is witnessed (by the angels). But whoever fears that he will not get up at the end of the night should pray Witr before he goes to sleep, because of
*the hadeeth of Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fears that he will not get up at the end of the night, let him pray Witr at the beginning of the night, but whoever thinks that he will be able to get up at the end of the night, let him pray Witr at the end of the night, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is better.” Narrated by Muslim, 755.*

*Al-Nawawi said:* This is the correct view. Other ahaadeeth which speak of this topic in general terms are to be interpreted in the light of this sound, specific and clear report, such as the hadeeth, “My close friend advised me not to sleep without having prayed Witr.” This is to be understood as referring to one who is not sure that he will be able to wake up (to pray Witr at the end of the night). Sharh Muslim , 3/277.

The number of rak’ahs:
The minimum number of rak’ahs for Witr is one rak’ah, because
*the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night.” Narrated by Muslim, 752.*
*And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The night prayers are two (rak’ahs) by two, but if one of you fears that dawn is about to break, let him pray one rak’ah to make what he has prayed odd-numbered.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 911; Muslim, 749.*
If a person limits himself to praying one rak’ah, then he has performed the Sunnah. But Witr may also be three or five or seven or nine.
If a person prays three rak’ahs of Witr this may be done in two ways, both of which are prescribed in sharee’ah:

1 – To pray them one after another, with one tashahhud, because of
*the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used not to say the tasleem in the (first) two rakahs of Witr. According to another version: “He used to pray Witr with three rak'ahs and he did not sit except in the last of them.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 3/234; al-Bayhaqi, 3/31. al-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo’ (4/7):*
it was narrated by al-Nasaa’i with a hasan isnaad, and by al-Bayhaqi with a saheeh isnaad.

2 – Saying the tasleem after two rak'ahs, then praying one rak’ah on its own, because of
*the report narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him), that he used to separate the two rak'ahs from the single rak'ah with a tasleem, and he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to do that. Narrated by Ibn Hibbaan (2435); Ibn Hajar said in al-Fath (2/482): its isnaad is qawiy (strong).*

But if he prays Witr with five or seven rak’ahs, then they should be continuous, and he should only recite one tashahhud in the last of them and say the tasleem, because of
*the report narrated by ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray thirteen rak’ahs at night, praying five rak’ahs of Witr, in which he would not sit except in the last rak’ah. Narrated by Muslim, 737.*

And *it was narrated that Umm Salamah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray Witr with five or seven (rak’ahs) and he did not separate between them with any salaam or words. Narrated by Ahmad, 6/290; al-Nasaa’i, 1714. al-Nawawi said: Its isnaad is jayyid. Al-Fath al-Rabbaani , 2/297*
and it was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i .
If he prays Witr with nine rak’ahs, then they should be continuous and he should sit to recite the tashahhud in the eighth rak'ah, then stand up and not say the tasleem, then he should recite the tashahhud in the ninth rak’ah and then say the tasleem.
*It was narrated in Muslim (746) from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray nine rak’ahs in which he did not sit except in the eighth, when he would remember Allaah, praise Him and call upon Him, then he would get up and not say the tasleem, and he would stand up and pray the ninth (rak’ah), then he would sit and remember Allaah and praise Him and call upon Him, then he would say a tasleem that we could hear.*
If he prayed Witr with eleven rak’ahs, he would say the tasleem after each two rak’ahs, then pray one rak’ah at the end.
The less perfect way of praying Witr and what is to be recited therein:
The less perfect way in Witr is to pray two rak'ahs and say the tasleem, then to pray one rak’ah and say the tasleem. It is permissible to say one tasleem, but one should say one tashahhud not two, as stated above.

In the first rak’ah one should recite Sabbih isma rabbika al-‘a’la (“Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High” – Soorat al-A’la 87). In the second one should recite Soorat al-Kaafiroon (109), and in the third Soorat al-Ikhlaas (112).
*Al-Nasaa’i (1729) narrated that Ubayy ibn Ka’b said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite in Witr Sabbih isma rabbika al-‘a’la (“Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High” – Soorat al-A’la 87), Qul yaa ayyuha’l-kaafiroon (“Say: O disbeliever…” – Soorat al-Kaafiroon 109) and Qul Huwa Allaahu ahad (“Say: He is Allaah, the One” – Soorat al-Ikhlaas 112). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i*

*All these ways of offering Witr prayer have been mentioned in the Sunnah, but the best way is not to stick to one particular way; rather one should do it one way one time and another way another time, so that one will have done all the Sunnahs.*
And Allaah knows best.

@Muhammad Saee'd ibn Bolarinwa Abu Bilaal
