Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been hit with a blow as one of his star players Santi Cazorla has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to severe ankle injury.
The Spaniard has not played any game for the Gunners since October 2016, and he was expected back in March 2017, but he has now suffered another setback which will require additional operation.
Arsene Wenger has said in January 2017 that the midfielder was near recovery, but Cazorla will be not be part of the Gunners' squad again this term.
''Santi is far from starting to run again. He had a little procedure and we have a meeting with the medical people today to see what it really was.
''Certainly he will not be available in the next six weeks, that is for sure.
''Will he play again this season? I don't think so because once you start to go outside, you have to count six weeks' preparation and at the moment he is not at that level,'' Wenger explained
